About the Artist
Ro Fernandez is a self-taught artist with a great appetite for creative exploration. She perceives art as a communication tool to change human behavior.
In her early career, Ro’s multifaceted artistic abilities manifested themselves at an early age. She was only 6 years old when she decided to participate in an art challenge. She won and her drawing was used by an ice cream company to promote their new product. Ro experienced difficulties and darkness in her childhood, however, her paintings are full of light and colors. Ro’s canvases express her curiosity for life, philosophy, and her knowledge about human behavior, marketing, design, and neurology. With every painting, her objective is to make you ponder and question simple concepts and to shift your perspective about life and death.
“Every painting is unique. My paintings change with me. Every single dot and color on a canvas is a piece of me, a piece of that moment capturing all my feelings and emotions making every painting unique. I never feel the same way I did during that second, even if I am “talking” about the same concept” – Ro Fernandez
Ro’s paintings are guided by intuition following the flow of the moment. Usually, Ro uses music to guide and maintain the flow but she also uses her knowledge in marketing, design, neurology, innovation, and human behavior to create pieces that can make people think.
“To me, art is like a language. I spent most of my childhood in silence, I felt scared and assumed people perceived me as being extremely shy. During those years I learned to observe, to listen, to feel, and to SEE. I love observing people’s behavior because most of them get stuck in their own realities and as Descartes said: “there is no truth only perception” – The idea of using art to communicate and to paint a new perspective,… to make people think and feel something new, but mostly to show everyone that no matter how dark, scary and ugly it gets out there, some part of you can still see the colors. So find it, speak up, change, and feel it with an open heart” – Ro Fernandez.
